"There's a pretty good sized bunch of hams (about three dozen regulars, about two-hundred total) on 2m FM simplex in and around Phoenix. You can always reach someone on 146.52 in Phoenix in an emergency or if you are having car trouble or just to ragchew. We probably won't drive out and help you change your flat tire. But we'll yak with you while you wait for the auto club ...;-) Or we'll call the tow truck for you. Most of us with any kind of modest antenna can routinely QSO with stations in Tucson, about 100 miles south of us, or Prescott, 75 miles north of us, and most of the way from Phoenix to the California border, a little over 100 miles. If you're traveling through and trying to contact a fellow traveler, simply break in to whatever we're talking about. We'll always break for anyone. If you need help contacting your traveling partner, one of our larger stations might be able to relay messages between the two of you and get you hooked up again. We don't "make contact on 52" and then QSY, here in Phoenix. We stay on 52 all day long. That way if anyone wants/needs to contact someone, there will be others listening and able/willing to help make the contact." - N0EQ Craig
