This highly anticipated update will allow direct internet connection through a Windows PC connected to one of the models above. It is suggested that this will allow direct connections over WiFi Cellphone Hotspots and other WAN connections without the 6-port forwardings needed for a HRI-200. You will still need a HRI-200 and a dedicated radio to operate a Node and/or to host a Room.

Currently you need to RF connect to a local Wires-X node or repeater to get worldwide access to other rooms.

The release date is scheduled for July 2018. This update is currently being tested in-house at Yaesu without Beta testers.

Wires-X Portable Digital Node Function (PDN) has been been released on 1/3/2019. This first release is for the FT2DR HT and the HRI-200 only, with the FTM100DR and FTM400DM to follow. This release requires a firmware and DSP update and special cables on the radio and a software update for all HRI-200's.

I have successfully updated both of mine and have it working!!! This enables my FT2DR to talk directly into the Wires-X internet system through any computer with an internet connection without a HRI-200 or a Node being within RF range.

This has great application for traveling and even mobile use. If you have a second HRI-200 based FTM-100/400 Node in your shack, you can connect to it's room and it will act like a repeater!

The NEW firmware & DSP updates to enable Personal Digital Node's (PDN) on the FTM100DR and FTM400XDR was released on 2/13/2019!

We have installed these updates successfully on several radios!

These radios are now able to connect directly using a PC over the internet to another PDN radio or Room on the Wires-X system. The PDN can also act as an Access Point so you can talk from another radio, like an HT.
